Mario,

Well done! I enjoyed seeing your collection (and you). If you were a
bit nervous, you hid it quite well.

Greetings,

I am looking for this particular cylinder "Sons Of the Brave March" 12927 on
Edison Gold Moulded Cylinder. The one I have has a pit on it, and I do not
want to damage the saphire stylus on my Edison Cylinder Phonograph.

Sincerely,

Paul R. Kondig

Message-ID: <[email protected]>

Hello Group. Does anyone have an interest in a good
solid mahogany VV-XVI cabinet? It's a "G" series
cabinet made shortly after the "L" door XVI's. It
includes the name tag, horn, original knobs, casters,
and motor board. Also included is most of a Cheney
motor, Cheney reproducer, crank and turntable.
Unfortunately, there's an extra crank hole to
accommodate the Cheney motor. The extra hole is in a
flat area and will be easy to fill. The price is
$100. Please contact me off list if interested.
Delivery is possible to Union or ???. Thanks, Jerry Blais

I forgot to mention the most interesting extra that
goes with the VV-XVI cabinet. It's a record duster
that has "Property of the Electrical Research Products
Inc. New York City" on the non-fuzzy side. I thought
it was interesting that it's not a duster that
contains advertising content. The duster is not in
very good shape. Any thoughts on a duster with that
type of written content? Thanks, Jerry

Message-ID: <001201c7f471$d4797580$6401a...@tonyandjose>

Hi Folks,

One thing that I have learnt is that if you want something it is often a good
idea to ask for it. So I know that this is a long shot but hey I'll give it a
go.

I was recently outbid on a Bettini Reproducer (losing bidder). This now means
that I'd really like to get one. So should anyone have a genuine Bettini
(actual Bettini not one of the Pathe copies) reproducer that they may consider
letting go of I would be happy to "Talk Turkey" in regards to compensation.

Please email me off list at:

[email protected]

Best Regards,
Mario

PS. I became an Uncle for the first time 3 1/2 hours ago. Yay!!! It was a girl
:)

Hi Mario

One of my friends e-mailed me yesterday with a "did you see this.....". Was
not a bad Bettini Reproducer with the advantage of a carriage for an Edison
machine. If only I had seen it before the auction closed!!!!

Good luck with your search, I'd also like to get one.............and so
would probably everyone else.:-) Congrats on your ABC interview it was
really great!

regards

Rob

My thanks to Steve Ramm for his always informative reviews offered on this list
and "In The Groove". As soon as I opened my September issue, I was attracted
to his comments on the still living inventor of modern day recording
techniques, Les Paul. I tracked down a copy of the DVD "Chasing Sound", came
home, sat down and watched it all the way through. As a life long
recording/musician nut who dabbled in some of those same experiments, I was
thoroughly enriched. While still in high school, I learned broadcast
production on those very same Ampex 300 series tape machines in an historic Los
Angeles radio station. Oh, and the wind up portable 78 player featured on the
DVD was just like dear old Dad's.

Thanks to the modern day Edisons like Les, and the backing of Bing Crosby, the
quality of our entertainment as an art form has greatly improved. Bravo Mr.
Ramm and keep the great info coming!

ps. If you can't make it to New York on a Monday to see Les Paul in person, in
the L.A. area the next best thing is to catch a casual acquaintance of mine who
plays just like Les. Mary Ford's brother, Bob, plays at the Pub in Upland a
couple days a week.
