Has anyone noticed that whenever anybody on eBay professes not to know the
provenance (or for that matter any detail) of what they are selling, they
always claim they bought it at an estate sale?? I once was duped into buying a
flor crane for a machine that it trned out was simply the base of a music stand
and a bent piece of rod. The seller claimed it came from an estate sale of a
person who had several phonographs. Happily one of my phonoo friends bought it
from me for what I paid, knowing full well it was a phony, just because it was
a cheap way to show their morning glory horn off.

Yes, exactly my sentiments about the description. My suspicion is that they
know about this machine and who altered it and why, but then again this is
all speculative, and they want some numbskull to think they know nothing
about these machines, and hope some one will think it is some one of a kind
original Edison Oddity that he can quickly pick up for short money, but
worth a bloody fortune.
