Regretfully, I couldn't make this one but truly appreciate your comment, Al.
I would love to see a real "Sounds of Nostalgia" advertised event. I think
it could be a very big deal in just a few years. Another angle is to
combine it with a brass-era car club or two. The Portland Swap Meet, for
example,
has made our Portland HCCA a lucrative return over the years. There is
experience here that could offer some direction. What say, ye, OTAPSers?

Not to rain on the Parade, I thought the new venue was bad. Not conducive
to sales, especially since the regular dealers were in a totally different
room up front. There were more vendors than customers. Even at opening
time there was no line and just a trickle all day. Yes I sold a Vic 5, and
was able to buy 150 nice blue amberols . There were many phonograph sales,
but they were to other collectors (vendors). My point is, The time has come
for OTAPS to Sponsor our own show. The Pacific NW demographics are
perfect. We can pair with the Radio clubs (who refused to participate in
this show) as well as MBSI and AMICA and even get the Jukebox and record
collectors to participate. Sounds of Nostalgia can become a big deal. It
will require us to do some work, but I think it will be very successful, our
club will grow and I believe with exposure more elusive phonographs will
show up. Al Menashe

I just found some record oddities, which I assume are some early Radio
Transcription type records, they are very heavy and 15 3/4" across. Maybe
someone can shed some ligh on them and since I have nothing that will
accomodate this size record, are they vertical or lateral groove ?

Here goes: Pathe Actuelle 535B "Just a Girl that Men Forget" by Fry's Million
Dollar Pier Orchestra & "I'm drifting back to Dreamland" by the same artist.
This is a black and white Pathe Actuelle Label and it says at the bottom "pathe
phonograph and radio corp. copyright 1920., Music Service Corp. Fall River,
576Mass. Black and white label: "I want to see my Tennessee by Lanin's
Arcadians & "Where's my Sweety Hiding (same artist), Music Sevice Corp. "Hinky
Dinky Parlay Voo? 563 by Nathan Glantz and his orchestra & Oh Sarah by Nathan
Glantz and his Orchestra with vocal by Vernon Dalhart (do you have this one
Jack Palmer??), Pathe Actuelle 7536 Washington Grays March by the Empire State
Military Band &"Light Out" March, Music Service Co. 552 "From one till Two" by
N.Glantz and Orchestra, & Where the Lazy Daisies Grow by Lanins Arcadians,
Music Service Co. 548 "What'll I do" by Casino Dance Orchestra (is this an
alias for some other band?), & A Smile will go a long long way by Lanin's
Arcadians. and finally 544 Music Service Company, Songs of other days medley,
and Southland Medley by M. LoScalzo and his instrumental Quartet . Can anyone
out there identify these heavy large monsters for me. I am assuming these were
used on early radio.

Thanks,

Bruce

Hello Bruce,

Used in public settings where volume required, and not radio. Vertically
recorded.

Best,
