I don't have a great deal of knowledge on Phonographs to get involved with
this message board but on this subject I believe I do.
If you want a truly honest person that has fantastic skills with repairs and
also the ability for testing reproducers simply don't waste your time trying
to contact anyone else bare Steve.
I had an Edison Opera with a damaged reproducer and hated the sound.
This reproducer needed some very delicate repairs which Steve made a
fantastic job of he also fitted a new stylus and completely overhauled this
Diamond A reproducer.
I couldn't of hoped for anything better and it plays brilliantly I now hear
sounds that I could never hear before.
I am from New Zealand and it was a big decision to send the Diamond A
reproducer out side New Zealand in case I never got it back as I don't know
where to find another one.
At a time when there are so many people trying to rip you off in some way it
is a big decision sending any part half way around the world for repairs
and knowing if this part goes missing the machine will be shelved. But when
you find the right person I feel you are obliged to tell other collectors.
Once I had emailed Steve a few times it wasn't a hard decision to send it
away.
In fact I have sent an array of reproducers over for Steve to repair and all
arrive back like new.
Steve has gone to a lot of trouble and time to help me which I appreciate
very much. This is one person that I have a great deal of respect for I
would trust Steve with my complete collection or anything for that matter
and know it was safe.

This is my first email to the group
When I read this request I had to reply for two reasons one I have been in
this position myself with who would have the skills to make a good job.
2nd but Most importantly for me was who could I trust as I am just so far
away from USA
Steve has helped bring so many of my machines back to life other wise they
would still be un playable.

If I wasn't so thrilled with everything Steve has done for me I would never
email the group.

If he is willing, you couldn't find a more reliable, and detail oriented
person than Steve Medved in Florida. He has done, for us, a Diamond A, a
couple of O's, N, C's....I can't even remember what else. He is an
excellent technician and even better person. I know there are others,
however Steve is the only person we have dealt with and trusted so far. He
fixed a DD reproducer for us, installing one of those great Bogantz
diaphragms, and made listening to our A250 enjoyable.
