It is the same way with folks who inherited stuff from their auntie 30 years
ago and in the attic was a box full of Alma Gluck one side records. "Oh my god
these records are one sided ones from the 1890's at least, we will hang onto
them and some day they will be worth a fortune". They actually convince
themselves over time by spreading the word with the great uninformed masses
whenever the conversation drifts to records that they have these treasures that
they will cash in some day and make a small fortune!! You told this fellow
something that he never wanted to hear, he obviously remains convinced that he
has a fortune, and you are just making up a story to try to steal them away!!

I just replied to an ad in the paper yesterday for Edison records with the
usual rare statement for $450. So I called wondering how many hundred there
were for that price. There were 5 records. I dug a little deeper but nothing
special. The guy was trying to tell me how old they were and they were a deal
"at less than $100 each." I tried to explain they were fairly common, I had
hundreds of them and they were probably only worth a few dollars each but he
got mad and hung up on me.

Bill,

I know what he is talking about there is a couple of 78's on ebay right now
with their needles intact. There is a PAL that I saw last night and a off brand
that I can't remember that was there a couple of days ago. They had the photos,
these people just don't know anything about what they are trying to sell.
It pays to do your home work not only for the seller but for the buyer as well.
Like the poor guy that got the wonder? PAL portable that just needed a little
work for $29?.00
I wanted so bad to email him but ebay sure has stopped us from doing that now,
I wonder why?

Subject: [Phono-L] Does anybody know GRAMOPHONESHANE
In-Reply-To: <[email protected]>
Message-ID: <[email protected]>

First let me tell you about a new forum, it is The Australian Gramophone Forum,
and is ran by Shane I am not certain if it is the same person but I thought you
should know.

Now for a different problem but could also be related to the above.

I need help from somebody on speaking? terms with the? person that has been
telling lies and spreading rumors about me. Somebody has been spreading lies
about me on a board that I liked in England and I may have to quit because of
this kind of problem. This is the 2nd board that I have had to leave because of
some low life that still lives with his mommy has nothing better to do than to
start rumors.

I am getting a little sick of this type of a problem, I started collecting
records and joining the forums in an attempt to take my mind off of my medical
problems but then this starts up.
If anybody knows this person and you are on speaking terms with him please ask
him to stop with the harassment.

I really think whoever is doing this on some sick level enjoys harassing those
who are disabled.

If anybody is on speaking terms with this person that may be doing this to me
please ask him to stop.

Thank you

Bill armyvet

Hello

I don't really want to do this or get involved but I feel compelled to and
somehow allow myself to be drawn into the web of deceit perpetuated by a few
people who seem to have too much time on their hands.

In direct response to William's post of the 1st March, i would first of all
confirm that "gramophoneshane" is the same Shane running the Australian
gramophones board recently set up.

However, I take issue with William's assumption that the person who is
harrassing him (if anyone actually is) is this same Shane. I have been in
correspondence with Shane for many years and he is a dedicated collector from
Australia who has been a member of many of the online forums for some time now.
I have never been given any reason to doubt him and when I read what?has
been?alleged he has said to William, I doubt seriously William is talking about
the right person here?

I would also like to add that contrary to what has already been said, there is
no evidence that "rumours" are abounding on the UK gramophone forum either
concerning either William or anyone else. I moderate this forum and if anything
is currently abounding, it is member apathy and nothing else!

I'm afraid William is sadly mistaken on both counts.

I just wanted to clear this up once and for all and I will not add anything
further on this unpleasantness.

Steve

I know him well, because I am gramophoneshane!
I have NOT harrassed you. I have NOT spread rumours or lies about you, and
quite frankly, I am getting fed up with this kind of nonsense on these forums.
I am the one being harrassed by a?couple people from Boston, and it all seems
to come down to a youtube video I posted, showing the removal & installation of
a main spring.
I've obviously upset these "repairmen" by showing how easy spring removal is.

Now Bill, you have my email address. Please use it with proof of these
accusations you are making.
I am on a carers pension because I look after my elderly mother, who is close
to disabled herself, so why would I harrass anyone because they are in a wheel
chair?
Your claims are complete nonsense, and posting this sort of rubbish on this &
other boards?is childish behaviour from someone who should know better.

Shane,

If there's a youtube video that shows how to replace the mainspring
that'd help me out.
