I have mine cataloged in Microsoft Works with columns for Title,
Artist, Record Label, Matrix #, & Genre, and location, with the ability to sort
by any of these. It works out very well and is easy to set up.

Subject: [Phono-L] Computer software for catalog collection

For some time I have wanted to find a program already created to catalog
what I add to my collection. It seemed the trade papers "Antique Week" and
"Antique Trader" had programs like this advertised. However now that I am
ready to do something about it, I can't find any current advertisements for
programs. Has anyone on this list used something and would you share the
contact information with me?

Sincerely,

Suellen Funk

Interesting, you really do learn something new every day!
I for one would like to see that picture.

In 1919 Edison put these kits together to amberolize the estimated 90%
of the two million home, standard, and triumph phonographs that were
still two minute only. He did this to stimulate record sales after the
great war. This particular kit was made for a home, these kits
included the reproducer, the carriage, a horn rubber, the reducer for
the recorder, a elbow adapter to allow a straight horn to be used, the
old feed screw was to be used.

I have a kit like this that came
from Oz. I used to have a kit that had a model O in the carriage. If anyone
is interested I can send a photo of a home that was amberolized, the decal for
the 2/4
position was removed.

Edison continued to sell 2 minute records until the factory fire wiped out his
stock, no new titles were made after Sep 1912.

Best regards,

Steve (the parrot)

I have a few restoration projects going on and asked myself if anyone
would know a source for real nice reproductions of nickel plated horn
elbows for different Victor horn machines?

Thanks in advance for any input!

Just as Bruce, I am using a spreadsheet too, mine is OpenOffice based
and works absolutely fine. Honestly, I would recommend the use of any
specialized software because it will make you totally dependent. I often
had the problem with customers who wanted to save their data from a
program that was discontinued for some reason. A document that can be
edited by various programs is the best way to go as it insures future
compatibility.
