I'm announcing that Mike and Paula will be in Salem also. We are dropping
off a valuable and rare DD to the masked collector. If he he doesn't show
I'm selling it even tho' I'm just the mule, aka delivery boy.

I have just acquired from a private party, a nice little Victor E (Monarch
Jr.). According to Bill F. who has seen some photos of it, it has a patented
Gibson traveling arm. It is in great shape and complete accept of the pivot pin
device for this seldom seen traveling arm, and I also need a slotted type crank
as well. I am assuming the E (Monarch Jr.) takes the same crank as an early
Victor II, since the early Victor II's, according to "Look for the Dog" were
actually E's with the addtion of a rigid tone arm. If anyone has both or either
of the parts I need to complete the E, and you are willing to part with them
for a fair price please let me know by contacting me off list at my email
address.

Thanks in advance,

This Memorial Day in my home Town will be a little bit different. Harry
Humphrey that well known elecutionist from the early days of recorded sound
will be making a vocal appearance, when he recites on his #1651 Edison Royal
Purple cylinder Reading of the Gettysburg address in Front of the Civil War
Soldiers and Sailors Monument on the Town Hall Green, during the
Parade/Ceremony . I will be set up there about 10:AM on Monday, with one of my
Edison 4 Minute phonographs with a large horn of course, with a modern Mike and
speaker system as well, and when the parade stops at the Town Hall for the
annual Ceremonies, I will introduce Harry and this historic reading of
Lincoln's speech on behalf of the Masschusetts Old Colony Antique Phonograph
Society. Prior to the Parades arrival I plan on Playing some really nice
Historic Music on the Phonograph IE: Stars & Stripes Forever, Washington Post
March etc. for the large throng of Parade watchers. It will be a proud moment
for this unabashed Patriotic Phonograph Collector.

Congratulations Bruce on successfully organizing the memorial day concert. I
have small children and have offered more than one time to do a similar "show
and tell" type thing for the children but the school administrators don't seem
terribly interested.

In my home town in Minnesota, the Historical Society built a large, very
expensive exhibit building at the fairgrounds and stocked it with old a few old
steamer trunks, some circa 1900 farm implements and the most beat up mahogany
victrola XVI you've ever seen in your life. They also have a pioneer village
with a Drug store there from ~circa 1905-1910. I've offered to set up a
broad display in the large building of up to 50 machines or a more targeted
display in the drug store,(could be for example only Edison machines of ~1906,
07, 10, 14, 18, etcetera). No interest.

Closest I've come to your success is about 15 years ago for a friend's wedding
I was requested to provide the music. That was pretty cool. I set up a victor
V with petaled horn and an electic microphone in front of the horn and provided
the music for ~ 100 people for a good part of evening.

Cheers,
The other Bruce
