Apparently, people are not removing the previous text, as you have also
failed to do, by quoting the entire digest in your reply.
Another way to keep things neat is to reply directly to the person, when
intending a message for only that person ("I missed you at..", for example)
Note how the following is cut, after the salient part of your message:

From: <[email protected]>
Please forgive me for asking about the CAPS show in my inquire of weeks
ago. My simple email has generated well over one hundred pages of replies
over and over. I would be willing to contribute donations to the site to
figure out how to make all the old mail simply be removed after the first
publication.
