This is a one sided 12" Victor. I received an answer to this query as recorded
on November 25th, of 1908. One of the strange things about this record, is that
after the music ends about 1/4 of the remaining grooves on this record are
completely soundless !! I can't ever recall seeing another record like this.
Why would they record a disc in this manner? Is this some sort of fluke or
mistake in the recording process ?

If someone has the Victor Red Seal Discography Volume 1 they could look
it up. I looked in the Encyclopedic Discography of Victor Recordings,
and I find nothing about your recording there. I did see that Ruffo
recorded 3 takes of Toreador Song in 1923, but those matrices appear to
have been destroyed and never released. The Encyclopedic Discography is
current for domestic matrices through March 31st, 1924. If this was a
Gramophone recording - maybe it has not been entered yet. At any rate -
if none of Ruffo's first three Victor takes of Toreador were released,
and considering that the red seals went double sided in 1925 or so -
maybe this recording was in between 1923 and 1925. I did find this
very record on Youtube - but no helpful info there. Lovely recording
though.

This one has me puzzled as far an original Recording date is concerned.

Carmen - Cancion del Toreador by Titta Ruffo a Coro Della Scala

Victor one sided Red Seal 92065 (2736f) A European Recording no doubt
with the crown in the top Runout
at 12 O'clock.

Thanks in advance for your help on this.
