On all Edison reproducers except for the L M and O and I think N when held upsidedown by the sound tube the stylus bars should be horizontal. The secret of the K is to have the working bar horizontal. You can do this depending on the holes in the bars with a loop like a ? or one that is like a flattened question mark. I start with the C bar and have it horizontal, then add the H bar and make certain the addition does not affect the C bar. Paul Baker used the ? the Edison ones I have seen used the ? with the flattened top. I also use the flattened top, it seems to work better.
The S is also challenging, I had one that worked on my standard but not on the owners home so I had to redo. The new diaphragms are much easier, on the original style you had to cut a straight pin and it took me over 20 tries. A measurement of the link would give you a good idea, but the hinge block position ans size of the holes in the bars also affects this. There are two types of the K, the early one with the swivel shoulders and the later one with the solid shoulders. The solid shoulders are easier to work with. > Hello all > Does anyone know the length for the link wire for the Model K reproducer?
