Of course, any items put up for sale anywhere could be stolen.  But the item 
shown in the Craigslist ad DO come up for sale, quite often.

They are minutes from board meetings, and taken from large binders containing 
these papers.  

These binders were to be trashed and someone saved them.  Also saved were 
hundreds of canceled checks with Edison's signature on them.  The most common 
of these were from the company of the Edison Botanic Research Corp, with Thos. 
Edison's signatures.  

In addition, in this cache of paperwork also were canceled stock certificates 
with Edison's signatures.  

If I recall correctly, the items were stored in Charles Edison's basement and 
rescued by his chauffeur.  They have been in circulation since the mid 1970's.
