Greetings from New Zealand, I often reminise from my first overseas trip to the
US, and chance to meet Elmer and his wife Juanita, who I believe passed on
some months back. When we meet, I knew he didn't have much time on this earth
left, with cancer of the voice boxe. They welcomed me into their home with
opened arms. His collection was indeed an eye opener, plus a skilled parts
maker to add to the measure! He loved his 50's Cadalic, which he picked me up
in, plus in the shed lay a Model T Ford. Merely 25 at the time, my mouth
watered. Victors' Columbias' you name it! he had it . I came back to NZ with
his Gem Cobb Roller Organ, and a 10 panel cygent horn, which I paid US $75
bucks for. I only wish I had bought a dozen off them. He was slowly selling off
his collection. We settled down to home made Cherry pie that evening, listening
to his Mira Disc Music boxe. Never ever will I forget him, such an impression
he made on a yound lad, still green behind the ears, absor
bing his fabulous aray of machine, after machine ! My stay was short.Elmer
truely a gentleman with dedicaton to his passion. Sadly a few
months later I sadly was informed of his passing!
I would love to hear more about him? He lived out at West Orange, New Jersey?
Glendora? So long ago now, and I turned 49 TODAY!!!!!! Anyhow, I am looking
for the following. A Victor 1 case, a nice decent example. Now this is the one
with the bullet brake and square edged turntable. Not the one with the bevelled
turntable and friction brake. If is a parts machine all the better!So i put it
