Hey everyone!
I went to buy some records locally that were being sold by the daugher of the
man that owned them. He passed away 20 years ago and all has been in storage.
The real story is that she had sold his phonographs a few years back, and one
was a...well, she said "there was this one Victrola that was all gold leafed.."
I asked if it had paintings on the front and sides. She said it did. So it was
a Vernis Martin...and she sold it to some guy for $7500.00. he flew to LA to
see it, and she said he was sorta disappointed in the condition on one side
because "My mother tried to clean it with steel wool"!!!!!!!!!! he bought it
anyway though.
