Either of the above links should get you to pictures. Each photograph is
a 3MB file so that you can "zoom in" quite close before you get any
pixilation.

Offered for sale prior to the June Union phonograph show is a Victor XVI
"Special Finish" upright. It is gold leaf, without any paintings on the
cabinet. This was from the estate of an 82 year old woman who was an
"accumulator" in Waupaca, Wisconsin. The story goes that this was one of
those houses where there were just isles to navigate from room to room
due to all the stuff. The house was full floor to ceiling near the
walls, but only about 4 feet high near the isles. I assume that as she
got older, she could not put things up as high as when she started
stacking years before. The person that found this machine had to rent a
storage unit just to hold everything that came out of the house.

As you might imagine, the finish is less than desirable, and will need
restoration. The pictures do not show the crank, turntable, reproducer,
or goose neck for the reproducer, but I have these.

I do not own even one upright. I am a Zonophone guy. This machine needs
to be in the hands of someone who will restore and cherish it! For all I
know, this is a "one-off." I have seen quite a few Verne Martin's, but
never just a plain gold case. (There is a photograph of the licensing
label from within the record storage area that documents the machine's
authenticity.)

This is being sold for "best offer." It will be delivered to Union, or
other arrangements can be made. If it is not sold before Union, it will
be available for sale at Union.

Please e-mail me off of Phono-L with questions or offers. I am
presenting this now so that serious collectors may be able to get an
idea of what will be involved in the restoration of this machine.

If you want to talk on the phone, e-mail me your number, and I will call
you as soon as I can. I do not want my home phone inundated with
incoming calls, and I do not trust my teens to take down names and phone
numbers accurately.

Thanks, and good luck! This is a very lucky find, and I am very
fortunate to be able to offer it to someone from the collecting
community who will appreciate it more than I.
