I had thought about that actually. That's what they do with garage door springs 
for safety in case they break..

It's my belief that the original springs were stronger than the reproduction 
ones. I would keep the original spring but tie a enough loops together with 
some thread or fine wire until it suspends the horn at the correct level. Take 
the Tiz-It off and just use a rubber hose as original. It will free up some 
space between the horn and reproducer.
