Hi Everybody,

Thank you so much for the many on and off list replies about our box o' parts
particularly the horn elbow.
We have received no less than a dozen replies off list last night and this
morning telling us that it is definitely an Opera horn. We have even received
several offers to purchase it.
We were told by many people that it has to be an opera because of the shape,
the angle of the bend and because when (by suggestion) I tried to fit the end
onto a model C reproducer it fits nicely and not too loose. Several people
think it is from a Schoolhouse Opera due to the original looking black paint.
It is the same as a regular Opera elbow except for the color but I still think
it is pretty cool if it came off of such a rare machine originally. Thank you
all for your help!

Since so many people wanted to buy it outright, we do not feel comfortable just
picking one person from either Phonolist or Phono-L.  We wouldn't know who to
pick.
Therefore, I think we will try posting it on Ebay this weekend. We will include
lots of clear pictures and appropriate measurements in the auction. We will
average the offers we have received so far and make that the starting price. I
will email the item number/link to both lists so you can find it easily if you
are interested. Then we can give everyone a fair chance to see it and bid if
they would like. Hopefully, this will be fair to everyone who is interested in
it.

I really wish Nick and I had a use for it!  :)

Thanks!
Melissa

Hi Melissa,

The elbow is off of a radio. Music Master made wood horns for radios after they
made phonograph horns. I have a Music Master mahogany horn that uses the same
fitting of the Edison cygnet horn. The bell is 14" in diameter.

Hi All,
Last week we won a box of phonograph parts along with our Victor II. Most of
them do not look very interesting. However, in the box was included a horn
elbow. I immediately thought it was
just the elbow from a radio horn but now we are wondering if it belongs to an
Edison Opera. The paint appears original and is black. It fits onto the bell of
our Edison cygnet horn and looks like the opera elbows we have found pictured
online. It has been suggested to us that it may actually be from a school opera
due to the black color. Sadly, we do not own, nor can we currently afford our
own Opera so we are considering selling the elbow to allow someone else to
complete an Opera. Can anyone confirm or deny what type of elbow it is? There
are other items in the box that we know nothing about and would love any info.
Here is a link to a video of the items. If you would like close up pics of any
of them, please send me your email. Thanks!Melissa
