Since the purchase of first phonograph in 1985, learned the phonograph cranks were either called male or female, depending on the type of phonograph.
Last year my son brought me 'restorable pieces' from v v 4-40 Orthophonic that his neighbors left on front porch after they moved. Included was the crank, measuring 16' to the curve. This crank is different because on the end that fits into the motor, on the threads is a 1 5/16" medal rod encasing the end of the crank. I tried everything to remove it. Is this normal for this victrola or was this an attempt over the past years to try to get victrola working ? I would like to offer these restorable parts to someone who may need them.
