A friend of mine has a piano shaped Grafonola with an electric motor. The
speed control does not work correctly. It uses a cable not unlike a bike
brake cable, i.e., a solid wire inside a springy wire outer core. It looks
like moving the speed control knob should move the inner wire of the cable
which would then move the yoke with the friction pads that hit the governor
disk. The problem is that the whole cable will move. The ends of the
cable assembly unscrew from the assembly. I'm wondering if a DPO lost
some internal parts. Does anyone have a working version of this set up?
Are you willing/able to take it apart to photograph its components? The
innermost parts of the ends come apart if you push out the little pin but it
is probably a bit difficult to reassemble. I have not gotten that far yet.

Thanks,

Ron L
