i have some parts ( tone arm, speed control, bullet brake) which are "gold plated" however, not in the best shape. I hesitate to ask, given the price of gold these days but, who does this kind of work? I got to thinking and wondered if it wasn't really '"gold" but maybe a less expensive option like some type of brass mix or something. Any thread discussing gold type plating, and or person doing this work would be appreciated. Also, if someone in the last, say, 12 months had something gold plated, what did it cost? Oh!
