there is no portable way to do this that is not totally gross. Couldn't find previous discussion on the topic but assume it has been discussed. Perhaps an optional "temporary directory" parameter while in 'p' mode can exist as part of the current third parameter. 1 = include_path, anything else to be seen as a temp_path/file.ext Or something similar.
