Status: Feedback
Bug Type: Session related
Operating System: Windows 2000
PHP Version: 4.1.2
New Comment:
This advice might be worth millions for some,
after a sleepless night and endless code comparisons, i found out that
adding
global $HTTP_SESSION_VARS;
right after the
session_start();
solves the problem, even when using
$_SESSION
for your coding which is supposed to be global anyways,
so till a formal fix comes up i hope this will help you too..
session_start();
global $HTTP_SESSION_VARS;
$_SESSION["HELLO"]="WORLD";
etc.

I did exchange all dll's, didn't help with the problem.
Sometimes it takes a little while to "loose" the session data,
somethimes it happens quickly...

once again, whenever you update/downgrade PHP remember
to replace ALL the dlls and other binaries in your systems
with the ones found in the release packages.

Problem still exists in PHP 4.2.0 rc4.

I use Apache 1.3.23 and PHP 4.1.0 as an ISAPI module on Windows2000 SP2
with NTFS.
I tried 4.1.2 when it came out and today - 15/4/2002 - 4.2.0 RC4.
I keep have to downgrade back to 4.1.0 because my complete
session-based website ceased to work when using ANY PHP version greater
than 4.1.0 (however never tried 4.1.1).
It heavily relies on URL transmitted sessions .... so without cookies.
I set register_globals to OFF en use $_SESSION etc throughout the app.
I'm really curious when sessions will work again, since I'd like to
benefit from the solved security issues of 4.1.x in >= 4.1.2.

I had this problem on Win2k, IIS5 with versions 4.1.1 and 4.1.2, but I
upgraded today to 4.2rc4 and it worked perfectly!
Thanks Derick!
