I also have this problem. Im using 5.2.4.4 and have IIS set up with virtual directories to my php applications. Everything works in the default site, but then when I try to access the virtual directories I get the same error in my even viewer. The long answer: It matters because the persistent connection layer gets initialized. Maybe there is a problem in reusing or storing the persistent connection. One of them is not even use in the exmaple. ALSO IF I CHANGE THE PCONNECT INSIDE connectSybase() to a connect, IT DOES NOT CRASH. WHY WILL IT MATTER IF I AM NOT EVEN USING THE CONNECTION? Also if I change to php 4.3.9 it works , NO problems.
