+Status: Won\'t fix
 Bug Type: Misbehaving function
 Operating System: Sun Solaris 2.5.1
 PHP Version: 3.0.16
 New Comment:

We are sorry, but can not support PHP 3 related problems anymore.
Momentum is gathering for PHP 5, and we think supporting PHP 3 will
lead to a waste of resources which we want to put into getting PHP 5
ready. Ofcourse PHP 4 will will continue to be supported for the
forseeable future.

I've fixed this prolem by commenting out HAVE_GD_ANCIENT
variable in config.h. Looks like some configure prolem exists.

This bug is very close to bug 3818
(http://bugs.php.net/bugs.php?id=3818)
But I have a slightly different configuration:
Apache 1.3.12
GD 1.7.3
FreeType 1.3.1
PHP 3.0.16
Oracle7 support.

But, the same configuration on Solaris 7 x86 works nicely :-o
