 New Comment:

Thank you for taking the time to write to us, but this is not
a bug. Please double-check the documentation available at
http://www.php.net/manual/ and the instructions on how to report
a bug at http://bugs.php.net/how-to-report.php

This was discussed before and we decided to keep it that way, see for
example http://marc.info/?l=php-internals&m=110488975724051&w=2

Maybe same variable.

" As a regular expression, it would be expressed thus:
'[a-zA-Z_\x7f-\xff][a-zA-Z0-9_\x7f-\xff]*' "
