This is an incorrect use of output buffering stuff okay ... but i don't
think
segfaults are a feature.
Test script:

ob_end_clean();
echo $message;
}
ob_start('handler');
echo "foo";
Expected result:
----------------
foo
Actual result:
--------------
segfault
