This bug has been fixed in SVN.

Snapshots of the sources are packaged every three hours; this change

OK. I retested again just now with the latest snapshot on both OS X and Ubuntu. 
No 
segfaults anymore.

A similar segfault on OS X 10.6.7 can be caused using the original steps to 
reproduce:
