just ran into this issue with 5.3.20, 5.5.0a2 and trunk. seems not fixed.

This bug has been fixed in SVN.
Snapshots of the sources are packaged every three hours; this change

Since php 5.3 has been preinstalled in Snow Leopard, it is very
important to have php 5.2 in system.
