strtotime() doesn't return false for some invalid formats.
Test script:

var_dump(strtotime('invalid_string'));
var_dump(strtotime('-1 monthZ'));
var_dump(strtotime('-1 monthsx'));
Expected result:

bool(false)

bool(false)
Actual result:
