Please try using this CVS snapshot: http://snaps.php.net/php4-latest.tar.gz For Windows: http://snaps.php.net/win32/php4-win32-latest.zip Previous Comments: ------------------------------------------------------------------------ [2002-12-23 05:20:18] [EMAIL PROTECTED] Of course, $_SESSION is a superglobal array and "$_SESSION = array()" is the solution but still I suppose that it would be better that this error (if we consider this as an error) would be thrown by PHP itself, not particular OS. Sorry about maybe not very good and detailly formulated topic of mine. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ [2002-12-23 05:09:57] [EMAIL PROTECTED] Superglobals are arrays and need to stay like that. If you want to empty them just $_SESSION = array(); ------------------------------------------------------------------------ [2002-12-23 05:05:46] [EMAIL PROTECTED] Assigning to $_SESSION superglobal a NULL value causes Apache running on Windows XP to show the "This programm has performed an illegal operation" message. The interesting thing is that this problem exists only when $_SESSION already contains a non-NULL variable, assigning NULL to an "empty" $_SESSION doesn't show up this issue. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ -- Edit this bug report at http://bugs.php.net/?id=21163&edit=1
