Try non-bundled gd 2.0.9 and see if you get the same results as the
ones
you've got with bundled GD library. I suspect that the behaviour of GD
between 2.0.1 and later versions had changed.

Using imagettftext() it should be possible to turn off the antialiasing
by specifying a negative color index. However, this seems to be broken
in 4.3.0 with built-in GD. 

Using negative color index just results in garbled characters.
