Please do not submit the same bug more than once. An existing
bug report already describes this very problem. Even if you feel
that your issue is somewhat different, the resolution is likely
to be the same. Because of this, we hope you add your comments
to the existing bug instead.

Description:
------------
I compile my PHP with the option, --with-imap (or
--with-imap=/usr/lib/c-client.a , same result)

So the configure runs for a while, and then shows this:

I keep getting the following output:
====================================================
checking for IMAP support... yes
checking for pam_start in -lpam... yes
checking for crypt in -lcrypt... (cached) yes
checking whether SSL libraries are needed for c-client... no
checking whether IMAP works... no
=====================================================

Note the 2 IMAP lines...

My config.log output:
====================================================
configure:40552: checking whether IMAP works
configure:40585: gcc -o conftest -DEAPI -O2 -m486 -fno-strength-reduce
-L/usr/lib -ldb-3.0  conftest.c -lc-client   -lcrypt -lpam -lttf -lpng
-lz -ljpeg -lz -lxml2 -ldb-3.0 -lgdbm -lz -lresolv -lm -ldl -lnsl

Now, I recall this used to work before...
I use imap2002d, compiled with stackguard support...

Please advise... I've been looking and searching for quite a while now,
but can find nothing... Thus I concluded that it might be a bug....
