oh by the way. I am trying this with https:// as wez requested and am
reproducing the same error:

I am having the same problem on Red Hat 9.0 with PHP 5.0 B2. It's
coming from Net/Socket.php

I've just comitted a fix for feof() that might solve this problem too.
