Okay here is the skinny: I'm using Red Hat Enterprise 3.0 which comes with libxml2 1.5.11. I ran the configure script for php 5.0.3 and it succeeded; however, the build failed. To resolve the issue I had to upgrade to libxml2 1.6.x ( I chose 1.6.16). My complaint is that the configure script should check for 1.6.x version of libxml2?
