 Operating System: FreeBSD 5.3-RELEASE
 PHP Version: 5.0.3
 New Comment:

As you're obviously just assuming, bogus. (I don't see any errors
here..) And it's perfectly okay to check for the funcs like that:
They're aliased in a header file.

Description:
------------
Isn't it just wrong that the configure script of PHP detects

checking for res_nmkquery in -lbind... no
checking for __res_nmkquery in -lbind... yes

but PHP uses res_nmkquery nevertheless?

This affects res_ninit, res_nmkquery, res_nsend and res_nclose in
ext/standard/dns.c and the compilation will fail definitely.

Regards Björn
