Sorry, but your problem does not imply a bug in PHP itself. For a list of more appropriate places to ask for help using PHP, please visit http://www.php.net/support.php as this bug system is not the appropriate forum for asking support questions. Due to the volume of reports we can not explain in detail here why your report is not a bug. The support channels will be able to provide an explanation for you. Thank you for your interest in PHP. This is hardly a PHP problem... Previous Comments: ------------------------------------------------------------------------ [2006-03-03 03:19:40] toashwinisidhu at yahoo dot com Description: ------------ I am using rpm packages that came with my Redhat Edition php-4.3.9-3.1 httpd-2.0.52-9.ent I was facing this peculiar problem, I downloaded some PHP packages (ACID & ADODB for Snort & phpMyAdmin)from the internet. when I unpacked the packages in the document root and setting appropriate permissions I was getting Access Forbidden Page -- Error 403... I was perplexed.. I have hosted many sites & I am aware how permissions work for apache. PHP was successfully installed & I could see the output for phpinfo(). BUT, if you copy (& not move) the whole package directory, after unpacking & extracting it, to a different location; the problem goes away!!!!! It is very strange but the method works. SO--after unpacking and extracting the package, you have to copy the whole directory to a new location and set the permission again. Use the new (copied) directory to host the website that you want to host...you will not get that error.. I do not know whether it is the problem of OS or Apache or PHP.. May be somebody out there could use my experience!!! Thanks a lot. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ -- Edit this bug report at http://bugs.php.net/?id=36597&edit=1
