I am sorry if this is a false alarm because I have spent many perplexing minutes already to figure this out. But I was unable to make the source distribution. So I downloaded source for 4.4.4, and it made and installed fine. There was a README-UNIX-BUILD or something like that, but I could not understand what my alternative would be. If this is in fact the problem, perhaps there should be a README-MAKEFILE for pin-heads like me. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ -- Edit this bug report at http://bugs.php.net/?id=40265&edit=1
