From: cosborne83 at hotmail dot com Operating system: Windows XP PHP version: 5.2.3 PHP Bug Type: Scripting Engine problem Bug description: Float values are implicitly converted to int when using modulo operator
Description: ------------ When applying the % (modulo) operator to floats, the values are implicitly converted to int, which causes problems in many instances. This means that you can't use floats to store integer values larger than the maximum int value if you wish to perform modulo operations. Theis behaviour is also invalid since modulo is well defined on floats as well as ints. Reproduce code: --------------- $m = 5000000000; $n = 3.5; // Integer modulo but with large int stored as float print $m % 10; print "\n"; // Non-integer modulo. print $n % 1.5; Expected result: ---------------- 0 0.5 Actual result: -------------- 4 0 -- Edit bug report at http://bugs.php.net/?id=41802&edit=1 -- Try a CVS snapshot (PHP 4.4): http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=41802&r=trysnapshot44 Try a CVS snapshot (PHP 5.2): http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=41802&r=trysnapshot52 Try a CVS snapshot (PHP 6.0): http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=41802&r=trysnapshot60 Fixed in CVS: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=41802&r=fixedcvs Fixed in release: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=41802&r=alreadyfixed Need backtrace: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=41802&r=needtrace Need Reproduce Script: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=41802&r=needscript Try newer version: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=41802&r=oldversion Not developer issue: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=41802&r=support Expected behavior: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=41802&r=notwrong Not enough info: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=41802&r=notenoughinfo Submitted twice: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=41802&r=submittedtwice register_globals: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=41802&r=globals PHP 3 support discontinued: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=41802&r=php3 Daylight Savings: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=41802&r=dst IIS Stability: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=41802&r=isapi Install GNU Sed: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=41802&r=gnused Floating point limitations: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=41802&r=float No Zend Extensions: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=41802&r=nozend MySQL Configuration Error: http://bugs.php.net/fix.php?id=41802&r=mysqlcfg
