[PHP-DB] How to escape '"' from printf??

Hi,everyone!
        I'm a newbie,I'd like to print something contain '"',howto??
printf("<tr>\n <td width=\"40%\".......... %s%s</font></td>\n  
</tr>\n",$array[0],$array[1]);is escape by adding a \???
    And BTW,is foobird a nickname of newbie???
