Wouldn't the PEAR DB module give this same functionality? -----Original Message----- From: Gerd Busker [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Tuesday, September 17, 2002 4:12 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [PHP-DB] DBI::Proxy
Ok, so the subject has something to do with perl, but read on: I was wondering if it would be at all possible (usefull?) to have a PHP database layer that can talk "DBI::Proxy". DBI::Proxy is a perl module that can act as a database proxy for any database supported by perl DBI/DBD. It would potentially solve all sorts of connectivity parameter weirdness and moving something from, say Postgres to Mysql or Oracle could be potentially much easier. The perl DBI/DBD interfaces are quite a bit cleaner and less database specific than the php ones...
