i figured this out : SELECT id, to_days(t1.closedate) - to_days(t1.date) 
FROM tracking AS t1

...

yes i am .. whe are using the IRM  for 
internal help desk  and im creating event reports ...

it only makes sense to include in the calculations the work hours so 
thats what im trying to do, to make the reports more viable ....
