(Are there things about a Signal 11, or Segmentation fault in your apache error_log?) mcrypt works fine here, on both my development server here (Linux) and another production server (OpenBSD). Do I correctly understand, the strings you want to encrypt are not being encrypted? Our user accounts store (amongst other things) two variables, the username and password in a mySQL database. The password is encrypted using mcrypt. The key for which is provided by generating an md5 string of the given username. decryption does not occur; encrypted strings are compared for similarity using strcmp(). Ever since we upgraded to 4.0.5, *all* mcrypt functions are failing - no encryption takes place and PHP returns no error, simply failing to produce anything. Please fix this ASAP. This is not a code issue, it is an issue with the mcrypt functionality since the latest release of PHP.
