There is already one report about Mysql 4.0 not working with
current PHP versions. And it's being worked on so this
report is not necessary. Next time read the instructions
about submitting reports before submitting any.

When trying to compile Apache 1.3.22 with the PHP library, the Apache compilation
fails with the following error:

Undefined symbol: mysql_module_entry

This occurs _only_ if you try to use the MySQL libraries by specifying:

--with-mysql=/usr/local/mysql

in the PHP configure script.

If you use --with-mysql without any arguments, Apache compiles properly.

There is a note on the MySQL mailing list about this:

http://lists.mysql.com/cgi-ez/ezmlm-cgi?1:mss:88933

The message claims that this is a PHP problem because MySQL does not define this
symbol.

System: Redhat 7.1 Linux 2.4.2
Compiler: GCC 2.96 (unfortunately)
