Yes, thats indeed true. I understand the mess with GD 2.0.1 having a lot of bugs and everything, but if you are supporting GD2 based functions on 4.0.6 and then take it away on the Windows version of 4.1.0, people are definetely have problems.
I'm one of those unlucky bastards that have to mantain an open-source project that needs the GD extension to generate images, so I personally hate when things like this happen. Too much of my time was already wasted trying to work around problems and inconsistencies between versions of PHP and its GD extension, and what I got as a reply was basically "tough luck". Very annoying indeed. I guess I will have to waste several more hours trying to build a portable solution across versions one more time, but this time with the new variable in place - PHP 4.1 on Windows being different than PHP 4.0.6 on Windows, which was already different than PHP 4.0.5 on Windows.
