Hello , I have similar problem when compile php4.1.0 as apx (all ok with cgi), but with mm and mhash libs.
I found workaround: after configure completed, I manually remove '-lmm -lmhash' form Zend/Makefile P.S. I also have many other problem with installation php-4.1. I think 4.1 Has no the right to refer to as 'release'.
