However, Imlib will take a while (if ever) to be a replacement for GD for reasons that Matt himself told me, as the requirement of some silly threading library and Xlib (X11 support). He told me that a patch for losing the requirement of Xlib was sent to rasterman but he never added it to the distribution (correct me if I'm wrong).
