Nobody _forces_ them to update to PHP 5 either. I won't update to it immediately. I actually got bitten by some BC issues a while ago. It's not that important always to be on the 'bleeding-edge'. "If it ain't broken, don't fix it." (I'm trying to learn this :) Still, it would be really nice to once and for all get rid of these kind of annoyances (not only CS) and make PHP more appealing to everyone, NOT _only_ the beginners. As I think it would give more than that warm fuzzy feeling. Clean, bug free (a dream :), consistent and free from history's burdens. It might make less experienced coders turn away from PHP...but after all, is that _really_ a bad thing? Or is PHP supposed to be a language for beginners to start with and then move on to more advanced ones? I don't think that underestimating the users is really the way to stop us from improving the language. I myself would feel really insulted about this kind of statements. IMHO, PHP has become this succesful because it has been improved and extended rapidly. Stopping the evolution might only lead into extinction. --Jani -- PHP Development Mailing List <http://www.php.net/> To unsubscribe, visit: http://www.php.net/unsub.php
