You are right. I wrote that official statement. These build fixes were based on Sascha's new build system, so they couldn't be easily backported to 4.2.0. Additionally, we wanted to be able to announce a point where Mac OS X would *really* be supported by us, meaning feature parity with other platforms. In addition to the build, the biggest obstacle has been the lack of dynamic PHP extension support on Mac OS X. This has been implemented in 4.3.0, but requires a corresponding change in Apache which only went into the Apache 1.3 and 2.0 CVS trees earlier today. So, the official line is that 4.3.0 will be the first supported PHP release on Mac OS X and that the release process of it will start soon. We will release a preview version of it for Mac OS X as soon as Apple includes the new Apache version in a future release of Mac OS X. I hope for a little more patience with this. We're almost there. --Marko -- PHP Development Mailing List <http://www.php.net/> To unsubscribe, visit: http://www.php.net/unsub.php
