Actually, I see no signs that a stable Apache 2.0 will make the problem go away. I don't see the perchild mpm becoming stable in 2.0. Hopefully in 2.1 but I am not holding my breath on that one either. The normal worker mpm that most people use with Apache 2.0 doesn't fix the issue at all.
