Like it or not, Windows is used more widely than Linux, FreeBSD, or any other UNIX combined. IMHO making PHP work on Windows is a valuable move. Once users have coded for PHP, they have the freedom to switch. If, on the other hand, PHP does not run on Windows, then PHP, so to speak, does not get its foot in the door, and thus can not convert these poor Windows users to the higher truth.
