Again, the fact they're directory junctions is pretty important here, since they do NOT work like symlinks. They work similarly to symlinks if you use them on directories, but they were created for a different purpose altogether. They were created to give Windows users something similar to the ability to mount a filesystem into a directory, instead of a different volume (e.g., mount a filesystem into C:\Documents and Settings, instead of D:\). As far as I know you cannot use them to create symlinks for files, which means they're not equivalent of UNIX symlinks at all. What happens when you use your functions on files? My guess is that they create bogus entries.
